11/20/2017 0 Comments thank you notes, vol. 1With this being the month of "thanksgiving" in the U.S, I thought I'd tell you about some of the stuff that I have the privilege of calling blessings in my life. And no, they don't include peppermint chai soy pumpkin spice mocha lattes or the Kylie Jenner lip kit or Instagram or even my phone, (not that there is anything wrong with any of those things in and of themselves). So if you were expecting or hoping for a "thanksgiving post" about that kinda stuff, then you're going to be left disappointed and with thirty seconds less of your precious life than before you started reading. I'm sorry for your loss. Unless you drink black coffee, then in that case, you should be fine because that means that we both are awakened by the taste of bitterness every morning. Welcome, realists. Here's my first thank you note. . . .
thank You for ice cream. The greatest dessert ever created. No argument. Jimmy Dean said it best: "I used to think, 'Man, if I could ever afford all the ice cream I want to eat, that's as rich as I ever want to be.'" thank You for my feet. I can be really lazy. Correction: I am really lazy. In fact, most of the time I'm sitting on butt or laying on my back because of my laziness. I take my feet for granted. And I definitely don't treat my body like I should when it comes to physical activity. I know this because I can't walk up a flight of stairs without panting like a hungry dog. I may trip over them every other day, but at least they're functioning. I'm grateful. thank You for apple pie. My appreciation for apple pie is the most "American thing" about me. Before I followed Jesus, my delight was in apple pie. The exaggeration is not slight. I'm serious. In elementary school, I was the girl who brought mini apple pies for snack everyday. For me, sweet pie = sweet life. Thank ya Jesus. thank You for silence. I know a lot of people who hate the quiet. It makes them feel lonely, awkward, bored, or even tired. But for me, that's when I feel the most comfortable, the most myself, the most fascinated, the most inspired, the most focused, and the most in tune with God. I am a major introvert in that way. I appreciate the moments when I'm not distracted by noise or exhausted from complaining or gossiping about current events. thank You for art. As someone who creates on a regular basis, I cannot imagine glorifying God in a more magnificent way in this world than with music, movies, books, TV series, photos, design, digital animation, paintings, sculptures, mosaics, drawings, and all the other imaginative things that get my mind and heart excited and curious. How freaking wild is it that our Creator created us to create things that point back to His rad self? thank You for my salvation. I obviously couldn't complete my first thank you note without including the truth and treasure of my life. The fact that I have a relationship with a Father that is so full of unwavering mercy, love, empathy, and hope is a dream that I could have never thought of for myself. He chose me before I chose Him. He was persistent even when I was doubtful and worried. He wants me to hang out and worship Him in heaven for eternity. He included me when it seemed like there was no reason to. *in the voice of S.M. Lockridge* "That's my King!" (please look him up on YouTube, if you didn't catch the reference!) thank You for my ability to learn. The more I learn about myself, other people, and the world we live in, the more I learn to love God more. It's almost as if humans were wired to function like that on purpose. What a concept. 123, NBC, do re mi, the more you know, right? Fun fact: I have a dictionary app on my phone so I can learn new words. Today's word: study. Definition: Unknown to me. Can I phone a friend? thank You for my sensors. It turns out humans have 21 of them. Some of them include: sight, sound, taste, smell, touch, pain, itch, pressure, temperature, thirst, hunger, direction, time, muscle tension, proprioception, equilibrioception, stretch receptors, and chemoreceptors. Though, I'm not gonna lie, I'm not as thankful for my sense of itch as the others. Gimme a break, ya girl had eczema for a majority of her childhood. The effects of the Fall, man. They really getcha good. thank You for my sister. friend. roommate. partner-in-crime. mocker of me. laugher of my jokes. kind soul. wearer of oversized sweatshirts. professional eye-roller. future lil mama. the Tori to my Trina. sista friend for life. thank You for humor. Things that make me laugh: puns, memes, Friends, awkward moments, the song Man's Not Hot, Parks & Rec, myself, stuff gone wrong videos, my freakish family's habits, my failure, ironically used hashtags, Finn Wolfhard. Would you believe me if I said that I never laughed harder than when a daycare worker yelled at me for getting pencil lead stuck in my hand? If you thought no, then you're right. I didn't. I cried. It was a good time. #itsalrightitsok #stillalive #barelybreathing #stilllovemyself #plainjalldayeveryday #fromwhomallblessingsflow #godisstillgood #sogood #deuces
